Join us for an afternoon of enlightenment and learning with
Lori Pelliccia, LPC-Intern, Asst. Clinical Director of ACGL.
In this presentation, Ms. Pelliccia will discuss trauma-informed care in behavioral health services. The presentation will include evidence-based and best practice information for behavioral health service providers who want to work more effectively with people who have been exposed to trauma and/or are at risk of developing traumatic stress reactions. In this interactive presentation, participants will discuss and share practical tips and tools for implementing a trauma-informed approach to client services. Objectives: Explain the importance of a trauma-informed approach to behavioral health services and the ways trauma can manifest in behavior. Review SAMHSA’s principles of a trauma informed approach; learn strategies for implementing the six principles in behavioral health services.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Lori Pelliccia, MA, LPC-I, is the assistant clinical director and a staff therapist and The Austin Center for Grief and Loss (ACGL). Ms. Pelliccia provides grief and loss counseling to adults who have experienced a significant loss such as death and/or divorce. Ms. Pelliccia also facilitates bereavement support groups and conducts presentations and workshops on various topics related to grief and loss. Ms. Pelliccia became interested in Trauma-Informed Care while in Graduate School and has facilitated several trainings on a Trauma-Informed Approach in public health services.
