is actively seeking a full time Clinical  Director 

WHO WE ARE  

The Austin Center for Grief & Loss (ACGL) is a non-profit organization serving children and adults who are experiencing grief or loss due to a death (including pregnancy loss and suicide) divorce, or other life-altering event.  Founded in 2007, ACGL assists children and adults as they move from loss to life through therapy, support groups, education, training and consultation.   ACGL enjoys an excellent reputation in Central Texas and its surrounding communities, and it is currently in a stage of significant growth. 

 

WHO WE NEED  

ACGL is in need of a professional therapist and executive manager of its clinical team who can also work closely with the Executive Director and the ACGL Board to promote and develop ACGL to the greater Austin community and surrounding areas.  The Clinical Director will head all clinical staff and oversee the training and licensure needs of staff and students, as well as oversee compliance issues with insurance, billing, clinical input, and all aspects of the clinical side of ACGL . The Clinical Director must be passionate about helping the bereaved, work independently, motivated to develop new programming or voice changes to current programs as needed, and be able to express ideas to the Executive Director and/or Board about the clinical operations and ideas for ACGL. This position has responsibility for the implementation, coordination, delivery, and supervision of all clinical services provided by ACGL. This person will readily demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to ACGL and its mission through engaged participation.  The candidate must have a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT, and supervisor licensure.  The Clinical Director reports to and will work closely with the Executive Director in order to meet established requirements and goals set for the organization.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of 1) provided therapy and proven clinical leadership experience; 2) excellence in both verbal and written communication and organizational skills; 3) attention and oversite of clinicians that are managed by the CD to make sure all reports an inputs are timely prepared; and 4) attention to detail in all aspects of the position.  Experience as a Clinical Director or in a key clinical role for a similar organization is preferred – either with a small and emerging non-profit, high-touch client organization, or counseling environment.  Clinical experience working with grief, loss, and trauma populations is required, with a preference for advanced training in this area.

 

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE  

The Clinical Director is a full-time professional, executive (exempt) leadership position.  The Clinical Director duties shall be solely dedicated to ACGL and no other organization or self employment outside of ACGL without the express written consent of the Executive Director and/or Board.  Compensation offered is on a competitive annual salary basis ranging from $70,000 - $75,000, based upon the experience of the candidate.  Other benefits include a health insurance option, participation in a Simple IRA, paid for attendance of approved continuing education courses to maintain licensure, and paid time-off which includes three (3) weeks of  vacation, six (6) holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. 

 

Most work will be performed at the ACGL facility (which operates M-F from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), and will include meetings with staff and patients both in person and via virtual platforms.  The Clinical Director will also present reports to the ACGL  Board of Directors at its meetings to inform it of the current and ongoing clinical operations of ACGL, and any proposed or developing ideas for the clinic.  Some evening and/or weekend work will be required based on need, as well as availability to respond to emergency or crisis situations that may arise with clientele.  At times there may also be community work or projects in the greater Austin area, as well as attendance at ACGL fundraising events or galas.  At this time, there is no expectation of extended or overnight travel.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

Critical Function Areas are:  

  • Supervise clinical staff and therapists, including hiring, assessing, and supervising all therapists, manage staff trainings including HIPAA and licensure requirements, oversee timely input of staff timesheets for billing and hold monthly staff meetings;

  • Facilitate supervision, including therapist group consultation meetings and one-on-one consultation for fully licensed therapists, intern therapists, and counseling students;

  • Oversee counseling students and work with universities to become an approved site supervisor for counseling practicums and internships;

  • Speaking engagements including addressing traumatic loss in schools, workplaces, local media, etc.;

  • Coordinate the Crisis Bereavement Team;

  • Present and obtain presenters for ongoing professional development workshops and community events;

  • Generate internal and external communications including newsletters and the Austin Grief blog;

  • Coordinate and provide guidance for support groups and outside trainings;

  • Conduct and organize clinical assessments and metrics for clients and programs;

  • Lead Volunteer Group Facilitation trainings;

  • Supervise Intake Care Coordinator to oversee scheduling of new clients, help assess appropriateness of services available for new and potential clients, and provide mental health referrals and resources within the community, as needed;

  • Respond to subpoenas and legal requests from clients and/or attorneys for access to client information and case notes;

  • Manage insurance credentialing and billing;

  • Manage and review insurance billing and compliance issues with necessary documentation;

  • Clinical Director to be paneled with insurance and sustain a clinical caseload including Individual, Group, & Family Therapy; and

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the clinical side of ACGL as needed.

            

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, or Counseling

  • Licensure Required:  LCSW, LPC, or LMFT

  • Must be a Board Approved Supervisor for your license
