The Austin Center for Grief & Loss is actively seeking a part-time Event/Volunteer Coordinator to join this vibrant non-profit agency which has been serving Austin community since its founding in 2007.

HOW THIS ROLE RELATES TO OUR MISSION  

The Volunteer/Event Coordinator serves as the main point of contact and support for all volunteers at The Austin Center for Grief & Loss (ACGL).  Working in collaboration with others, this person provides leadership in coordinating and executing ACGL events.

    

  • Effectively recruits suitable individuals for a variety of volunteer roles 

  • Coordinates initial orientation sessions and ongoing training sessions to provide volunteers with knowledge and skills to assist within ACGL 

  • Coordinates volunteer support group facilitators and group night coordinators 

  • Coordinates all recognition efforts to thank and recognize volunteer commitment 

  • Maintains all data for volunteer and event participation 

  • Schedules and coordinates volunteers to assist in all areas of ACGL operations 

  • Coordinates and executes agency events 

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of quality improvement and outcome measures related to the ACGL Volunteer Program 

  • Represents ACGL at volunteer coordinator and/or outreach events 

  • Attends and actively participates in meetings as appropriate 

  • Provide phone coverage and conduct an initial assessment by telephone to individuals who have indicated a need for ACGL services 

  • Provides an empathic and compassionate environment in order to create a safe space for those on their grief journey 

  • Perform administrative tasks in support of the organization and other duties as assigned 

 

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Comfortable with having variable work schedule 

  • Creativity, with high-level of professionalism, flexibility, and ability to work well under pressure 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidential information as appropriate 

  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail 

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in a variable environment, with minimal supervision 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse team, including external stakeholders 

  • Flexibility to attend special events, at times requiring evening and/or weekend work 

  • PC proficiency and skills in MS Office and database software 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2+ years directly related experience  

  • History of volunteer service 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 

  • High integrity 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills 

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy 

 

 

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE  

The position is part-time, with hours flexible to meet the responsibilities of the position. Compensation is an hourly rate of $17 based on experience and a contribution to a Simple IRA. Travel requirement is estimated at 5% for events occurring at off-site locations. Minimal night and weekend work is required. The Event/Volunteer Coordinator position offers a rich learning environment in a clinical setting.
