This therapy workshop is for children in grades 2nd - 5th, who have experienced the death loss of a loved one. Participants will explore, process and express feelings through art making. Studies have shown that using the creative process to expressing one’s self artistically can help individuals to resolve issues as well as develop and manage their behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness. Art experience is not necessary to participate.
Participants in need of a scholarship please call The Austin Center for Grief & Loss to make a requested based upon ability to pay, scholarships will be given for the remaining balance.
ABOUT THE GROUP LEADER
Rachel Saffer, LMSW- Rachel Saffer, LMSW has been a therapist at The Austin Center for Grief & Loss for 3 years. She has experience in providing counseling to adults, teenagers and children who have experienced significant trauma in both group and individual settings. She believes in providing every client with a welcoming and safe environment so that they can work towards healing on their own terms.
