The membership of this group is men and women who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner. The themes for the group sessions vary according to what is happening in the lives of the members of the group. Each session a particular theme or topic is offered and the group decides whether to discuss that topic or one that is more pertinent on that specific night. Examples of topics discussed are: managing difficult feelings while parenting grieving children, taking on new roles once filled by the person who died, overall fatigue and overwhelm, relationships with “in-laws” after the death, wanting a new relationship, guilt, etc.
Size of the group: Generally 8-12 members.
Facilitated by two trained volunteer facilitators.
